@darren - Oh, come now, I'm not saying we're expecting to get it before release. I think we're all just a bit frustrated that we order something weeks in advance, and still have to wait yet more weeks, with little to no information on when to expect it, other than "it's shipped from London and it'll be there soon." It's been a full two weeks since release, and all I have to go on is an order status that says "Shipped" with an 11/29/2010 date, which wasn't even listed until days after the 29th (thus leaving me less than faithful in the info), and "N/A" tracking information. Will I get it before Christmas? The New Year? Valentine's Day? Who knows. It shipped from London and it'll be here soon... I hope.
b_coleman: man i really wish i could be of more help. the postage rate we charge doesnt allow for tracking (hence the N/A, its not that there should be one and there isnt - there just isn't one). the delay in marking the order as "shipped" was due to computer link up between two vendors that is a bit slow, we've hopefully corrected that.
beyond that i dont know, i cant account for the postage system once a package is put into a mailbag and sent out. lord i wish i could right about now.

We have the product, we all received it in our inboxes on the 29th.
If it was something that wasn't available already in digital format I'd understand the anticipation a bit better but this angry huffing and puffing about the physical copy is just weird.

@ nook - I love the digital downloads, I really, really do. However, I didn't just purchase music and a high-quality Quicktime (which, evidently, my old laptop has trouble playing smoothly). I ordered a DVD. To watch on my lovely TV. In my living room. On my couch. With friends. Or by myself. The digital download doesn't mean that I have, essentially, received the entire product, because I haven't. The physical copy isn't just an extra little cherry on top, the digital copies are.

Why are you getting frustrated with people complaining about getting misinformation and not getting something they paid for? I am sorry but you pay for something and expect it within a certain date, is that unreasonable? I bought a DVD to watch on my DVD-the download works spottily for me.
Wasn't asking for it before its released, just when it is released. How can I get a copy at my local record store? It is just disappointing, sorry for offending you but whoever organized this dropped the ball.
I run my own business, and actually listening to customer feedback might help. Stop throwing your hands up and blaming the customer.

I have complete faith that the jonsi team is doing everything they can to get products to us. The weather in the UK was horrible and the weather in the East to Midwest in the states is horrible. Darren, I commend you and all the staff's efforts. Thanks for everything.
tiger: i'm not blaming the customers at all, what i was saying was that i felt it was weird that people were looking for it before release date just because they preordered it. i'd not seen a comment like that before, it wasn't meant to cause offense to anyone.
from my perspective: a product is released, it goes into the postal system and then goes around the world. we dont have tracking numbers as it would be too expensive to have them (i'm going to enquire if it will be possible to have them as an option in future for those that want the surety that it brings), so we just send them out to the world - they all (well 95%) left london at the same time, some arrived to london customers the next day, some to france a day later, to ireland a day later etc. we know from when 'go quiet' was released earlier this year that some countries were still waiting 2-3 weeks after they were dispatched. that can only lead me to assume that the local postage systems in some countries are slow in getting them out there - im not in any way frustrated at customers asking for information about their orders, im frustrated in the delivery of the packages to the customers by the postal systems. post from london to me in helsinki is a pretty standard 2 days, whereas it seems for other customers its the best part of two weeks. we (us here at jonsi.com, sandbag, topspin) don't have any control over a package after it leaving the warehouse. 'dropping the ball', perhaps - although i really dont know what we could have done to help it get to you after it leaving us. we've answered dozens and dozens of mails (about all kind of things) over the last few days, for jonsi stuff im at 4500+ threads in gmail over the last year about everything - we try our absolute damndest that you get your product on time and in good shape, thats not always possible.

If posting the product was going to take 3-4 weeks (or 10-12 weeks) then it is always better to quote estimated delivery times when ordering. Communicating honestly and a little empathy always helps. I feel you were blaming people for complaining-and that is the attitude I have got from Sandbag. Yes, you ship the goods out but legally you are still responsible for the goods until they are delivered.
I have done some research and it would appear US orders are going surface mail. As someone who ships stuff internationally, I would never use Surface Mail outside the European Union. The lack of proof of posting, unreliability and time taken means it isn't worth it. I would rather have the option of $12 airmail 5 day delivery (it is only $3-4 difference). Might be something for Sandbag/TopSpin to consider. But shipping Surface to the US means it could take up to 8 weeks! That is the info that should have been communicated, then no one could complain right now.
tigers: some customers in canada have received their orders already, i got an email just this second from a girl in tasmania that she got hers. also las vegas. so they're out there and they're going a lot faster than surface mail.
as said, we'll consider an option for tracking postage.
wow, so many of you don't have this yet either. clearly things changed with shipping out of the UK since the recent terrorist mailings and the weather...there seems to be logical reasons, still I'm jonsing for this in a big way...and thinking a lossy bitrate download of the songs and of the film is good enough, well for some of us, it isn't...
