It's that time of year, and the SRMB does a Secret Santa thing that was really fun, so I thought we could do one, too? I want to see if anyone is interested first. What would happen is you guys would email me your name, mailing address, and screen name, and I would randomize everything and send you a person's info for you to buy a gift for. The gift would be less than $15/10-ish euro. You don't have to tell them who it's from, if you want it to be a secret, or you can go ahead and spill the beans. I will promise on a stack of bibles to delete all your personal info after the thing is over, and I will not give it to anyone besides your Santa. Anyone can participate, new or old, young or young-at-heart.
If enough people are interested I'll get something going in the next few weeks, so we all have time to shop/create and ship. Remember to allow enough time for international shipping, it's a huge bummer if your package doesn't make it by Christmas. Also, please only participate if you really are going to do it, when someone cops out the person who was supposed to get their gift is very sad :(
So what do you guys think?

I'll bite! It would be fun to see if we've figured each other out enough here to hit the mark.... I can guess at what would please some people, but then I'd probably be wrong about that oversized plastic penguin.

ÓKEI!
penguins? i imagined SB full of stalls of plastic pelicans :DPosted 6 months ago # -
This sounds awesome! Can you create things your self instead of buying things? Can you just give a gift instead of reciving one too? He he he XD.
Posted 6 months ago # -
^ that's the point of it on srmb.
Posted 6 months ago # -
Yeah, I think homemade gifts are nicer! My email address is roseganley@gmail.com, so if you are interested go ahead and email me your info, and I'll put something together by next weekend (after my inni weekend, starting right now!). Thanks srmb, hope you don't mind I took your idea! And I'm talking to it as if it were a person...

Can you just make a gift and send it too the random person you got given, with out getting one your self?
Posted 6 months ago # -
Sounds cool!! I'm in!! =D
Posted 6 months ago # -
^^the only problem with not getting a gift yourself is that someone else doesn't get to send a gift. How come you don't want anything? It's nothing crazy, just a cute little something.
Posted 6 months ago # -
That sounds so fun! Only problem is, I live in the U.S. Could I still participate? <:
Posted 6 months ago # -
Sure, anyone can!
Posted 6 months ago # -
So far I only have two people's information, if you'd like to participate please send me your name, mailing address, and forum name by this weekend!
Posted 6 months ago # -
I'm in rose! Will send details tommorrow .
Posted 6 months ago # -
^Sweet!
Also, Medz, I'm sorry you can't participate but HOLY CRAP HAWAII? I can think of worse places to spend a month in winter. You get to go the best places! Eat some delicious fruit for us :) Ooh, and if you happen to stumble upon a certain hut in a certain raw food community, take pictures!!
Posted 6 months ago # -
If everyone who wants to play can get to me by Wednesday this week, that would be stellar. So far I have info for moe, siri, and andrea_m. Thanks!

@rosega
i plan to actually pull a bit of a j&a and disconnect entirely, except for my ipod. i'm gone for a whole month, no screens or internet. i'm probably going to eat 90% raw considering it's going to be a second summer for me while i'm there, and that's usually how i eat during the summer. i really cannot wait, especially for the food.
unfortunately, we aren't going to the big island - where the raw food commune is. we're going to be hitting maui and kauai. kauai is veritable paradise, though.

^hiked 1/4 of the trail here last time i was there, plan to do the whole thing this year.sorry for derailing your thread though, i really wish i could take part in this. :( it sounds like such a great idea!!
e: i say its going to be a 2nd summer, when in reality i should say it's my 1st! had a sorry excuse for a summer this year, nothing but rain and a high of 20 if we were lucky...
Posted 6 months ago # -
This is a great idea! I'd love to participate in this!
Sorry if I'm a little late, though :(Posted 6 months ago # -
^not a problem at all.
Sodz, do you still want to play? If so can you send me your address soonish?
I'll send stuff out this Friday, so be looking for it!
Posted 6 months ago # -
Ok guys and gals, check your inboxes! The rules:
-under $15 USD
-arrival date before Christmas day (so allow 2-3 weeks, especially for international shipping!)
-can be secret or not, it's up to the giver to tell his/her givee
-no peeking until Christmas (in your own timezone, I guess? Or we could go with Icelandic time as a standard, haha!)
If you guys have any questions about your person but you don't want them to know who's asking, post it here as a general question and we'll all answer. That way it can stay a secret :) If something comes up and you can't play anymore, email me so your person can still get something, please.
And if anyone else wants to participate, just email me and we can work you in. Thanks guys, this should be fun! Be sure to post a picture after Christmas, if you can :D

I already have a questions!
Are we all girls/women?
What are your three favorite colors?I am indeed a lady, and I really like anything really colorful. I suppose my favorites might be yellow, maroon, and something earthy, like brown or tan.
Posted 6 months ago # -
Yep - I'm a lady, too. And I also love colorful. My favorite colors are purple, green, and blue. Not pastels. Plus I love sparkly and shiny - silver especially.
Posted 6 months ago # -
I'm a woman with very simple tastes. I am more often in the hardware or garden shops than clothing or (kill me now) shoe stores. ;-)
I like all colors, some don't like me, but no matter.Posted 6 months ago # -
OK moe I'll knit you a shovel in a deer-eating-roses pattern xb
my wardrobe shows all colors thinkable and so does my house
my cat is ginger
my car a very dull grey
je déconne mes filles

moe, I hate clothing and shoe stores, too. Bleah!! You'll more than likely catch me tramping around a book store instead. I don't get into clothes and have worn the same things for years. My winter wardrobe is mostly cargo pants and black sweaters. Pretty much it!! But I am colorful otherwise. I make up for it with pretty hair accessories. =)

shoe shopping is one of my greatest joys in life.
Posted 6 months ago # -
Good you have that Hawaiian intervention coming up then! ;-). I just never like what I find, looks fine on the shelf and transforms into something people float about Venice in, once on my feet.
Posted 6 months ago # -
I hate shoe shopping because I wear a children's size 2 shoe, and of course all I can find is kiddy-looking stuff. I am 40 years old. I don't want sparkly pink shoes.
Posted 6 months ago # -
Putting mine in the mail today! How's everyone doing?
Posted 5 months ago # -
My PO ppl asked for ID to verify the return address on my parcel, so using the north pole as a return addy was not going to fly. :-(
Next time I won't wear the hoodie and shades. So now I'm not so secret. The upside is I get to lecture the perils of opening anything early!!...don't even think about it!!! I am watching!!!
