just got home, sleepy kids to bed… my god, another FAB concert! just amazing how much energy it radiates. my ears are sizzling and my brain is bursting, full to the brim with this voice I so love. I’m heading for a sleepless night for sure. This was my fourth concert of this tour (I saw AB Brussels, Paradiso A’dam and Rock en Seine), and musically the best so far : Jónsi seemed deeply concentrated and was very true to the lyrics, which I like a lot.
The band played flawless, always so enthousiastic. I think I saw Ulfur using his thumb again, good for him ! Alex did something with a guitar I hadn’t heard yet, it was in a quiet song, it matched beautifully.
Before Go do, Jón thanked us all for coming with his hilarious ‘thank you very muts’ (= woolly hat in dutch), you just got to adore him.
Still no burnt glass house screen though : I had hoped for it, because I think it really adds to the visual aspect. Belgian concerts are a guaranteed sell out, Jónsi plays two concerts in a row, so I thougt we stood a chance. Oh well… I think they put it away for good.
The opening act, The bear that wasn’t, was nice enough (and a Flemish guy too !), a soft and sometimes powerfull voice, very respectful audience and a round of applause to be proud of.
I took my godson Wolf, he liked the concert a lot but was a bit taken aback by the animation of the wolf in Kolnidur : why is the wolf so terrifying ? bless him. I saw several children, in fact people of all ages, Jónsi reaches out to many souls.

Verlegen, speelse jongen uit het prachtige noorden, je bent zo bijzonder, je inspireert me. Ik wens je een heerlijk leven !

Back to Brussels for a 2nd show. Another daydream.
If i prefer the AB concert hall, that just was amazing, like the first time. Just too bad missing the whole stage set (specially for Kolnidur and Grow till tall), but the sound, the poetry and the feelings were there.

I just hope to see you again, as soon as possible.
And waiting for the live dvd to live it again and again.

    Again, a giant takk!

Once again an amazing show. Your music, your voice, your songs, your band, your stage… everything is perfect! Thanks so much to give us all that poetry and all these feelings during this gig.

See you tonight for the 4th time…

Jónsi, you are more than music. I felt all possible emotions last night, but most of all, an intense true happiness, deep inside me. You were.. wow. You were.. your music is.. your voice.. godlike. Divine. I felt you rushing through my whole body, wave after wave, waves of goosebumps. The most beautiful thing ever. Never to forget.. always to cherish.

    Thank you.

Amazing concert once again. The venue was very nice. Jónsi and his voice was in great shape. The audience was very respectful (as usual in every Jónsi show I went) but a little too cold. I didn’t miss the absence of some decor elements, the projections on the background was still amazing.

Just one regret: why the set-list is featuring a new song on certain dates and not others? If I was not dreaming, I heard them rehearse “Ukulele” during the soundcheck (walking at this time in the quiet street, you could hear everything), but no Ukulele during the concert :/ Perhaps in London?

    dear jonsi,
I was on the front row,and I gave you a card during ‘sticks and stones’;actually I should have waited untill you finished your great, overwhelming concert, but I didn’t know if I was going to get a chance to give it to you afterwards,so I’m sorry if I disturbed you,but I’m so happy and excited you accepted my card! That shows you are such a nice person!!Thank you for an evening I will always remember, you are in my heart!!love you!!!!

The first time I followed an artist to concerts and it was the best “musical” decision in my life!!!!!

This wonderful idea + journey started in Cologne, followed by the Melt Festival (BIG SORRY for the poor “Techno audience”) and 2x Sacrum Profanum and ended now in this adequate venue Cirque Royal …

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THESE MAGNIFICENT MOMENTS!!!!!

I look forward to the next Sigur Rós album – wish Alex, Úlfur, Ólafur and Thorvaldur all the best and hope to re-experience this fantastic Live Combo at the next “Baby break” … !!!!!

  11. Pedro says:

Hey michèle! I saw how you gave Jónsi your letter onstage, don`t worry it was not inapropriate, it was really fun to see Jónsi`s reaction and how he took the letter, viewed it and then thew it on the floor covering his face with his arm, it was very theatrical and fited into the magic of the song!
It was also funny to see how he came back and probably without noticing steped his foot on it (my english is not that good, you know what i mean), it s a good think he came back for it and took it at the end!

Exelent show!! I will cherich both nights forever.

  12. Cissy says:

    It was magical !!!!

  13. Thank you very much for this fantastic night, I still remember that moment so perfect! When the concert started … Woah! A shiver of pleasure through me, I was finally truly happy. I saw Jonsi for the second time and it was always so great. I’m French and I came to Brussels just to see the concert, and December 29, I will be also in Reykjavik, to see Jonsi and review again Iceland.
I cannot describe what I felt during the concert, it was so … beautiful ! It was really magical, Jonsi’s voice is really beautiful and the music also. I thank all members of the group, really.

PS: Jonsi, continues to play and sing, please! Your voice is so beautiful!

Takk fyrir, takk fyrir, takk fyrir !!! Ég elska þig

  14. Sébastien says:

After a wonderful concert at the Ancienne Belgique (that I’m so pleased and so proud has been recorded on CD and officially available accross the world), the concert in Cirque Royal was probably even better. Especially on music quality and Jonsi appeared to me more open and less shy.

I just regret the whole decor set, which made the concert at the Ancienne Belgique that wonderful. Just add it, and the concert at Cirque Royal was the top of all! But it just disappointed me for a minute or two, not much… I still had the same emotions during Kolnidur and Grow Til Tall.

Jonsi and your band, you are AMAZING!!! So much more than just music…

Now, a personnal message to the girl and boy who stand beside me: I hope you realise you have spoken really loud during the whole concert, destroying a good part of this concert for several fans like me. At a certain point, I’m quite sure even Jonsi could hear you! When you are going to a concert, especially such an emotionnal concert with some soft musics, be respectful for all spectators and the musicians themselves and keep your mouth shot! Especially when it’s about reading an sms to your friend: she can also read, I hope for her, and people around you don’t need to know what’s inside this sms. Now that the dvd has been released: buy it and make as much noise as you want, this won’t disturb other spectators.

I still can’t believe the reaction of yours when I asked you not to talk that loud: “we have also paid EUR 40.00”, to read an sms loudly in the middle of a concert? Ok, that’s quite expensive then!

And as all of you can read: I have such a blackout during at least 3 songs because I couldn’t hear the music properly. My attention was taken away…

Sorry Jonsi, it wasn’t your fault, but I really had to express it somewhere…

  15. michèle says:

hi pedro!,how nice of you to reassure me that it was not inappropriate to give my card to jonsi onstage!!If I knew he would take my card, I would have written so much more in it!!!And yes, his reaction was so funny!!Did you make pictures or film some things? Maybe we can exchange some?bye!!JONSI FOREVER!!!!!!!
